3/9-Top Hat (Ginger Rogers):

An American tap dancer (Fred Astaire) attempts to win the affection of a model (Ginger Rogers) in this screwball comedy musical. Often regarded as the most successful of the Astaire-Rogers films, this film features outstanding choreography to classic Irving Berlin tunes like “Cheek to Cheek” and “Top Hat, White Tie and Tails”.

5/11-Charade (Audrey Hepburn):

Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant team-up in this romantic comedy thriller about a widow’s search across the city of Paris for her murdered husband’s stolen fortune. Often described as one of the best Alfred Hitchcock films not directed by Hitchcock, this film is considered a classic in the mystery genre with great twists, witty dialogue, and a compelling romance.

7/13-To Catch a Thief (Grace Kelly):

Alfred Hitchcock’s 1955 adaptation of David Dodge’s novel about a retired jewel thief (Cary Grant) who falls for a wealthy widow’s daughter (Grace Kelly), this film was the final work between Kelly and Hitchcock after their successful partnership in Dial M for Murder and Rear Window. They leave on a high note with some of Kelly’s best work as an actress including doing her own driving stunts during a high-speed chase sequence.

9/28-The Big Sleep (Lauren Bacall) (80th anniversary):

An adaptation of the popular Raymond Chandler crime novel and a National Film Registry-inducted film, private detective Phillip Marlowe (Humphrey Bogart) is hired by the patriarch of the wealthy Sternwood family to investigate the person blackmailing him and his family including his beautiful eldest daughter Vivian (Lauren Bacall). Romance, thrills, murder, and crime ensue in this quintessential entry into the film noir genre.

11/30-Meet Me in St. Louis (Judy Garland):

In this charming musical following a year in the life of the Smith family, Judy Garland shines as Esther Smith, second-eldest daughter, as she struggles with young love, family bonds, and terrifying changes as her family faces the prospect of moving from St. Louis to New York City. This richly colorful musical features such gems as “The Trolley Song” and the Christmas classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.
